Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse
When zombies take over the world, it's up to three gutsy Boy Scouts to save it. Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller, and Joey Morgan star as three Boy Scouts who set out to save their town and those they love from becoming zombies, and maybe earning some merit badges along the way. There's several laugh-out-loud moments, and the film is filled with excitement, humor, and even some heart.

The Final Girls
Everyone knows that in pretty much every horror movie there's the "final girl" - the girl who survives until the end to face and defeat the killer. "The Final Girls" takes that trope and turns it on its head, becoming a modern day meta classic filled with every single type of horror cliche you can imagine, but also being very heartfelt and emotional. When a group of kids are transported to their favorite 1986 horror film, they find that they're the unwitting new stars in a killer's movie, and they have to use their knowledge of horror to make it out alive. Featuring a strong cast including Taissa Farmiga, Malin Akerman, Adam DeVine, Alexander Ludwig and Nina Dobrev, "The Final Girls" is an intellectual horror film that's not afraid to make fun of the very genre it represents.

Zombieland
It's time to nut up or shut up, as the post-apocalyptic world has just begun. When a geeky kid (played by Jesse Eisenberg) finds his loved ones have fallen prey to zombies, he makes his way to a safe-haven, and along the way meets three strangers who join his journey with hilarious results. Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin co-star in this horror comedy that offers rules for surviving a zombie apocalypse, as well as giving one of the best cameos in cinematic history.

Happy Death Day
The slasher subgenre hit its zenith in the 80s, and has pretty much died down since then. Then came "Happy Death Day," a perfect blend of slasher and comedy that surprised audiences and critics alike. Jessica Rothe stars as Tree, a spoiled sorority girl who's about to celebrate her birthday - but then ends up murdered. She then wakes up the same day, and is forced to re-live her death over and over again until she finds her killer. Rothe truly shines as Tree, and seeing her transformation from spoiled brat to heroine is amazing, and the film is filled with humor and horror from start to finish.

The Cabin in the Woods
Leave it up to Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard to take every single horror cliche in the book and combine them to make a wholly meta masterpiece that's equal parts mystery, suspense, horror, and most importantly comedic. When a group of friends go to an out-of-the-way cabin in the woods, they unknowingly become victims of a shady organization that sets out to kill them using different horror cliches. By the time you get to the end, you're left spellbound by the story, and then there's that cameo that you won't soon forget - as well as the ending itself.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space
I've never been afraid of clowns, but I don't find them funny either. However, I still remember seeing this film when I was a kid, and being totally creeped out. Now, I find myself laughing more than being scared, but that doesn't mean the fear isn't there. When an alien race invades a small town, they look like clowns and use every clownish cliche to kidnap people and use their essence to survive. The film is filled with unique kills and humorous quips, and even though it hasn't held up well, it's still a fun romp to enjoy with friends.

Hocus Pocus
Even if you don't own this classic, odds are you've seen it due to it being shown on a continual loop on television every October 1st-31st. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy star as the Sanderson sisters, a gaggle of witches who put a curse on a small town before they're hung. Decades later, they rise again to wreak havoc, and it's up to a virgin boy, his young sister, a girl he likes, and a talking cat to stop them. Filled with laugh-out-loud moments and memorable catch-phrases, "Hocus Pocus" is the quintessential Halloween film that families can enjoy again and again.

Beetlejuice
Michael Keaton is best known for playing two characters - Batman, and Beetlejuice. It's no wonder why, as his portrayal of the undead trickster is an absolute hoot, and he hams it up like the expert actor he is. Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin star as a couple who are recently deceased, who call upon Beetlejuice to help them rid their old home from an annoying family that's moved in. Winona Ryder co-stars as a living girl who has an infatuation with the dead, and the film is filled with unique visuals and state-of-the-art effects that more than stand the test of time.

Ghostbusters
"Who you gonna call?" Odds are there's not many people in the world who doesn't answer that question with "Ghostbusters!" This 1980s classic features a group of ragtag ghost hunters who investigate hauntings, and wind up getting involved with an evil demon known as Zuul. When you get the comedic talent of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson - not to mention supporting roles by Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts and Rick Moranis - you're bound to have a classic horror comedy on your hands.

Shaun of the Dead
Taking the zombie genre and turning it into pure comedy is a rather easy feat (heck, this is the third zombie-related comedy horror film on this list alone), but it takes a lot to make it memorable for the right reasons. Director Edgar Wright managed to hit all the right notes with "Shaun of the Dead," featuring Simon Pegg as a middle-aged loser who doesn't even know the world has dissolved into madness around him. Finally faced with the prospect of death, he takes his best friend and goes in search of his ex in order to somehow save her from the undead, as well as rescuing his mum from the mean Philip. The resulting film is a thrilling, fun-filled horror comedy that's easily re-watchable due to great performances and a truly thoughtful, hilarious script.
