The Walking Dead Swear Season 7 Episode 6 Review **SPOILERS FOR THE SHOW, EPISODE AND COMICS FOLLOW, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK** Back in last season, after Rick and company assassinated a bunch of Saviors while they slept (they thought they had killed them all, including Negan, those foolish people), Tara and Heath decided to depart for a two-week supply run.  It was weird that it was the two of them, since they never really had any connection on the show, but in reality it was because Corey Hawkins (Heath) was filming his new show "24: Legacy", and Alanna Masterson (Tara) was about to have a baby.  So the writers sent them off to accomplish those real life goals, and they were blissfully unaware of the terror the rest of Alexandria has faced, including Negan's subjugation of the colony, the deaths of Abraham and Glenn (the former would totally wreck Tara since Glenn was the one who rescued her after the Governor's attack on the prison), and the death of Den

Worst2First:  My Most Anticipated Films Winter 2016-2017 With the arrival of winter, it's also time for the dramatic movies to take form on the big screen.  This winter brings a lot of different films to the table, and it's shaping to be a great winter at the movies.  There's several films to look forward to, and I picked ten of the films I'm most excited to see this winter (which, to my definition, falls between December-February). **There will be no spoilers since the films  aren't actually released yet. Also, the release dates are subject to change.** #10 Hidden Figures January 6 Featuring an all-star cast including Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Jim Parsons, "Hidden Figures" tells the true-life story of a team of African American women in the 60s who were pivotal in providing the mathematical data to successfully send a man into space.  With Oscar nominee Henson and

The Walking Dead Go Getters Season 7 Episode 5 Review **SPOILERS FOR THE SHOW, EPISODE AND COMICS FOLLOW, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK** When we last left Maggie and Sasha, they were mourning the deaths of their significant others at the hands of Negan and Lucille.  Maggie vowed revenge against Negan, and the two continued on to the Hilltop alone so Maggie could get help with her pregnancy pains. Now it's a few days later, and Maggie is recuperating from her pains and the baby is thankfully alright - seriously, if anything happens to that kid, Maggie would go down as one of television's most screwed over characters - and she's mourning for Glenn in her own way.  They managed to have them buried proper at Hilltop with crosses and everything, and she lays the pocket watch her father gave Glenn at his grave.  As Sasha joins her, the two mourn with steely resolve, saddened over their loss but determined to move on and gain revenge.  Jesus then joins them and we see he&

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk

Image
Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk Starring Joe Alwyn, Kristen Stewart, Chris Tucker, Garrett Hedlund Directed by Ang Lee The Story: In 2004, an iconic picture of the War in Iraq propelled the Bravo team to national stardom, especially young Billy Lynn (Joe Alwyn).  Upon returning from deployment, the men are treated as superstars and are invited to be a part of the Thanksgiving halftime show in Dallas. As Billy adjusts to civilian living again, he's still haunted by the events of that day that led to the death of his officer, Shroom (Vin Diesel).  As he struggles with obvious PTSD, his sister Kathryn (Kristen Stewart) doesn't want Billy to go back to Iraq and tries to find a way to get him honorably discharged.  As the halftime show looms closer, Billy learns about true courage, brotherhood and the importance of life. The Synopsis: Ang Lee is one of the most prolific directors of our time.  He's churned out critical blockbusters such as "Sense and Se

Don't Breathe

Image
Don't Breathe Starring Jane Levy, Stephen Lang, Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto Directed by Fede Alvarez The Story: In inner city Detroit, Rocky (Jane Levy), her boyfriend Money (Daniel Zovatto) and their friend Alex (Dylan Minnette) make a living robbing houses.  Each of them has their own motivations: Money for the money, Alex because he not-so-secretly pines for Rocky, and Rocky so she can take her young sister away from their neglectful mother and move to California.  The robberies have been petty and rather unfruitful until Money hears of a house belonging to an old Army vet in the middle of the most run-down area of Detroit, a place devoid of neighbors.  His daughter was killed and he was awarded a $300,000 settlement that is inside the house.  They plan on robbing the man - despite the fact that he's blind.  However, they get more than they bargained for when the Blind Man (Stephen Lang) shows proficiency in protecting his home, his money, and the secrets th

The Girl On the Train

Image
The Girl On the Train Starring Emily Blunt, Haley Bennett, Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux Directed by Tate Taylor The Story: Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) is an alcoholic woman who rides the train to New York every day, despite not having a job.  She's wallowing in self-pity over losing her husband Tom (Justin Theroux) and not being able to have children.  As she rides the train, she fantasizes about the perfect lives of people in the homes she passes by, especially a young pretty woman who lives in a house a few houses down from where she used to live. Megan Hipwell (Haley Bennett) is that woman, an artist and wannabe free spirit who's married to Scott (Luke Evans).  She struggles with maintaining a suburban wife life while still yearning to live the carefree days of her youth - and she absolutely hates children.  Which makes it ironic that she's a babysitter for Anna (Rebecca Ferguson), who is now married to Rachel's ex Tom.  She wants to experience fun

Worst2First: My Top Ten Prequels

Image
Worst2First:  My Top Ten Prequels One thing Hollywood is known for is movie franchises.  They follow a specific rule: if it makes money, make more movies.  However, there are times where a movie series has reached its full potential and can't move forward, or fans are expressing desire for a backstory, and that's where the prequel comes in.  A prequel is a film that focuses on events that took place before a previous entry, and since there's many of them out there, I focused on my personal ten favorite prequels, Worst2First. **There will be no spoilers.** #10 Ouija: Origin of Evil Going into the film I had low expectations, since the 2014 film "Ouija" was a downright snoozefest, but to my surprise I was actually enjoying the prequel.  Set in the 60s in the same house as the original, we meet a widowed wife and her two young daughters who perform phony seances, but when she buys a Ouija board it becomes too frighteningly real as her youngest

The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 4 Review

The Walking Dead  Service Season 7 Episode 4 Review **SPOILERS FOR THE SHOW, EPISODE AND COMICS FOLLOW, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK** Last week we got a peek into Negan's world at the Sanctuary.  The week before we were introduced to Ezekiel, THE AWESOME SHIVA, and the Kingdom.  The week before that we were mourning the loss of two main characters.  This week we're back with Rick and his Alexandrian group after the aftermath of Glenn and Abraham's deaths, and it oddly seems like either a) the townspeople get over things really quickly, or b) Rick didn't tell them everything that happened.  I was expecting more sadness and anger, but most of the Alexandrians seemed just as confused as I was over what was happening. As the show began, Rick and Michonne are in bed (although in a vastly different way than last time we saw them: before they were face-to-face and cuddled close, now they're on separate ends of the bed facing away from each other), and Michonne s

Hotel Transylvania

While Dracula prepares for his daughter's party, the hotel is teeming with guests including Dracula's friends Frankenstein (Kevin James), Wayne the werewolf (Steve Buscemi), Griffin the Invisible Man (David Spade) and Murray the Mummy (CeeLo Green).  As the party kicks off, human Jonathan (Andy Samberg) stumbles his way to the hotel, and Dracula tries to get rid of him, but when sparks fly

Arrival

Image
Arrival Starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg Directed by Denis Villeneuve The Story: When twelve alien spaceships suddenly land on different areas of Earth, the human population is quite understandably concerned, especially since it seems like there's no communication.  The government brings in linguistics expert Dr. Louise Banks (Amy Adams) and scientist Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner) to try and communicate with the aliens to see what they want, and why they're on Earth.  As Louise harnesses her linguistics expertise, the world becomes more and more concerned and they face the brink of an all-out war between humans and aliens. The Synopsis: When it comes to Sci-Fi movies, there's typically two ways a film can go: they can either be so incredibly corny and cheesy you're expecting the aliens to arrive and say "take me to your leader," or they can be highly cerebral, intelligent and filled with deep dramatic perfor
