Major Theatrical Releases April 2018
April typically brings the films that studios want to ditch before the epic summer season starts, and it looks like 2018 is no exception...well, except one.  Summer will start early this year, as the most anticipated movie in the last ten years will be unleashed on the world at the end of the month, leaving all other competitors in the dust.

Here are the major theatrical releases for April 2018.

**THERE WILL BE NO SPOILERS,
Also, dates are subject to change**

A Quiet Place
April 6
Directed by John Krasinski and also starring him and his real-life wife Emily Blunt, "A Quiet Place" has an fascinating premise - the world has been overtaken by creatures who hunt their prey through sound, and in order to survive, you cannot make a noise.  It will be interesting to see how they portray a film with very little sound and make it effective, but the trailers make it seem downright terrifying and the film has already garnered high praise from early screeners.

Chappaquiddick
 April 6
Telling the true story of the mysterious death of Mary Jo Kopechne, "Chappaquiddick" centers on Ted Kennedy and the fallout after the possibly-accidental death of Kopechne.  The film has a strong cast pedigree including Jason Clarke, Kate Mara, Bruce Dern, and surprisingly serious roles by comedians Ed Helms and Jim Gaffigan, and looks to be a tense dramatic piece about one of America's most famous political families and the scandal that changed the course of presidential history.

Blockers
April 6
John Cena, Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz star as parents who attempt to stop their teenage daughters from loosing their virginity on prom night.  While the preview looks to be a raunchy good time filled with over-the-top antics and humor, I fear that this is the type of film where you've seen the best parts in the trailer (especially Cena's butt-chugging), but we'll see.

The Miracle Season
April 6
Oscar winner Helen Hunt stars as a volleyball coach for the Iowa City West High School team, who won the national championships the year before.  When their volleyball captain is tragically killed in an accident, the team has to come together again and pull out an unprecedented repeat win, despite their misgivings and grieving.  It looks to be a crowd-pleasing tale of redemption and the power of self, one that families will enjoy.

Rampage
April 13
Dwayne Johnson is easily the hardest working man in show business, appearing in "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" late last year, and now starring in not just one, but two, action blockbusters. "Rampage" is based on the classic video game where giant creatures fight each other in busy city streets, and it looks like the film will stick true mostly to that concept, except it looks to be an absolute mess.  It's a film that shouldn't take itself seriously, but somehow seems to nonetheless, despite Johnson's starring role and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who seemingly can't shake his character of Negan from "The Walking Dead" as he seems to play the same type of character here.

Truth or Dare
April 13
Last year, the movie "Wish Upon" was the worst film I had seen.  While there's other contenders for that title this year (*cough*Samson, Forever My Girl, Fifty Shades Freed*cough*), "Truth or Dare" looks to be competing for that title.  It's probably not normal to laugh out loud during a horror trailer, but I couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous premise, the lazy acting, and the effects...those face contortions are supposed to be frightening but they're just frighteningly awful.  I don't know why they keep churning out lame horror films like this when there's a boatload of amazing ones out there, and I have no idea who would actually pay money to see crap like this.

Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero
April 13
When I first heard of this film, I thought it was a joke.  After seeing the trailer, I'm not laughing.  The animation is just awful.  The story is silly at best and pretentious at worst, and the whole concept of having a dog on the front lines of a major war is absurd.  Not pleasing for children or adults - no wonder why it's coming out now instead of the prestigious summer season.

Duck Duck Goose
April 20
A rebel goose must babysit a gang of baby ducks...I can hardly even type that with a straight face.  Again, a terrible children's film that will leave children crying and adults wondering what the heck they just watched.  Maybe I can play Duck Duck Goose with the other audience members - wait, I'll probably be the only one in the theater.

Super Troopers 2
April 20
The first "Super Troopers" came out in 2001, and it's been seventeen years until a sequel was made.  Is that too long between sequels?  Maybe (see "Barbershop 3" or "Bad Santa 2" to check out that track record), but it could be surprising.  Still, will audiences appreciate the same type of humor they did seventeen years ago?  Again, we'll see.

I Feel Pretty
April 20
Amy Schumer plays the typical Amy Schumer-type character in "I Feel Pretty," about an overweight woman who struggles with identity until she suffers a head trauma and gains the confidence to be beautiful, and prove that beauty lies on the inside.  Nice message, one that girls should hear, but not through the annoying performance Schumer will undoubtedly give.

Traffik
April 27
Two couples on vacation to a secluded vacation home find themselves under attack by a gang of ruthless sex traffickers, and they must use all their wits and knowhow to escape.  Looks promising, but probably forgettable, still one that should be checked out - when you have time.

Avengers: Infinity War
April 27
Ten years.  Eighteen movies.  All leading to...this...moment.   A film that will be unparalleled and unequaled, "Infinity War" unites several of Marvel's biggest heroes - Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Black Panther, Hulk, Thor, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, Rocket, Winter Soldier, Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man...in a film that is simply unprecedented.  If this film doesn't become the highest grossing movie ever, I will be surprised.  If this film doesn't top my all-time favorite films ever, I will be surprised.

So there are the major theatrical releases for April 2018.

Here's the order as to how excited I am to see them:
