FROM HERE ON OUT**
Tobin: The Comics
In the comics, Tobin was one of the original Alexandrian citizens, and worked at a desalination plant before the apocalypse. He led Bruce, Barnes, Richards, Holly and two others to Alexandria, and later worked at the construction site for the expansion of the community with Abraham and others. After a Walker attack at the construction site, he leaves Holly for dead, but Abraham rescues her and the two get into an argument. Tobin told Abraham about the community rules over situations like that, and expected Holly to agree, but instead she kicked him in the groin so hard he vomited. Afterwards he speaks to Douglas Monroe over his guilt for nearly letting Holly get killed, and later on he assists Abraham, Glenn and Heath in clearing out a horde of zombies attacking Alexandria.
Tobin and Holly were the first to witness the Walkers pushing through a loose panel, and he orders Holly to warn the others. He redeems his poor prior decisions by attempting to fight off the Walkers, but by the time Rick and his crew gets to him, he is already dead, having been torn apart an disemboweled by the Walkers.
Tobin: The Television Series
Tobin is a resident of Alexandria and works in the construction crew with Abraham, Francine, Bruce, Jake, Tommy and Carter. He's a fair, caring, easygoing and hard working man who rarely loses his temper, and holds a very strong presence in the community by being an efficient worker. He holds a great deal of care for the residents of Alexandria, and Deanna made him the leader of the construction crew. When Rick's group arrives, he introduces himself to Carol and offers to help train her how to shoot, not knowing she already knows how to do that. Back at the construction site there's a Walker attack, and he leaves Francine for dead, but Abraham rescues her. The two get into an argument and Tobin explains the rules over situations like that, and expected Francine to agree, but she punches him in the face instead. He speaks with Deanna and tells her what happened, and suggests giving leadership to Abraham, which she agrees. He is later seen with Spencer, Olivia and Francine as Carter tells them his plan to kill Rick and take over leadership, but he is firmly against it.
When the Walkers break through the wall, he's the first to see it and is taken to safety by Rosita and Tara, and takes refuge in the church during the horde attack until he joins the rest of the town in taking them out. After the horde attack he begins a relationship with Carol, until she leaves him and the community because she doesn't feel like she fits in there due to her past sins.
Tobin is one of the few characters who has outlived their comic book counterpart, as he should've died when the Walker horde attacked. Other than that, his character is very similar in both instances, except in the comics he deals with Holly, but on the show Holly (who was killed when the Wolves attacked) is replaced with Francine. He'll be in the seventh season but since he's supposed to be dead already, there's no telling where his story will go.
