The Walking Dead Characters: Kingdom Soldier

The Walking Dead Characters:
Kingdom Soldier
"The Walking Dead" will enter its seventh season on October 23, and after leaving on a massive cliffhanger, excitement and anticipation are at all time highs.

For the next few days I will be posting articles about the main characters you will see in the upcoming season, from faces we've seen since the first season to ones we'll be introduced to once season seven begins.

**THERE WILL BE SHOW AND COMIC SPOILERS!**
You have been warned.  If you want to keep reading, do so in knowing that I will be divulging comic book and television show spoilers.  Information was derived from personal comic book readings, show watching, The Walking Dead wiki and imdb.com.

**SERIOUSLY, SPOILERS WILL ABOUND
FROM HERE ON OUT**

The Character: Kingdom Soldier
The first character is commonly just known as "Kingdom Soldier," since he's only appeared in two episodes and hasn't been officially given a name on the show.

Now fans of the comics have speculated who this person could be.  He could be a whole new character or a mashup of several Kingdom officers, but the most common guess is that this soldier is Richard.

In the comics, Richard was Ezekiel's head of security for The Kingdom, which will be a new community introduced to the series in this upcoming season.  He joins with Rick and the others in assembling an onslaught against Negan and his Saviors by attacking his compound, along with members of The Kingdom, Hilltop and Alexandria.

Having successfully trapped Negan and the other Saviors, they move on to attack a Savior outpost where they are ambushed and attacked.  Richard is fatally shot and dies in Ezekiel's arms, after which Ezekiel praises Richard by calling him the eyes and ears of The Kingdom.

Now, as I said earlier, this character could be someone entirely different, but Richard is the best guess right now.  The first appearance of this soldier on the show was in the season six episode "East," where Morgan and Rick go searching for Carol, who left Alexandria.  They come upon a barn and find the soldier there, apparently looking for his horse, and Rick almost shoots him, but Morgan pushes Rick out of the way, leaving the soldier to run away.  Morgan then sends Rick back to Alexandria in fears of Rick's no-nonsense approach to other survivors.  Fans of the comics picked up that the soldier's uniform was very familiar to uniforms worn by Ezekiel's Kingdom soldiers.

In the season six finale, the soldier is seen again with another Kingdom soldier, once again interacting with Morgan.  Carol was near death and about to be shot by an enemy survivor, when Morgan intervenes and shoots the man dead.  This is a big character arc for Morgan, since he sworn off killing people and this is the first man he's killed in a long time.  While tending to Carol, Morgan sees the two soldiers approaching, with the Kingdom soldier walking.  "What happened here?" the soldier asks, and Morgan replies that he found the man's horse, and Carol needs help.  The soldier looks back at the other soldier then back to Morgan, "Let's get you some help," he says as the men shake hands.

Previews show Morgan and Carol at The Kingdom, where Carol seems to make a full recovery, which adds to the idea that the two soldiers were indeed from The Kingdom, and are good people.  As to whether or not this man is Richard from the comics is yet to be seen, but there's no doubt he'll play a bigger role in the show in the seventh season.

The Actor: Daniel Newman
Daniel Newman is not just an actor, but a model and singer as well.  Born on June 14, 1981, in Atlanta, Georgia (coincidentally where "The Walking Dead" is filmed), he eventually studied at Yale before moving to New York City, where he was discovered by photographer Bruce Weber, which led to modeling work for the likes of Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Tommy Hilfiger.

Daniel is also the leader of the rock band The Vanderbilts, and has also starred on television series such as "7th Heaven," "One Tree Hill," "Fab Five," "Drop Dead Diva," "Heroes" and "The Vampire Diaries."  He has also appeared in movies such as "The Dark Knight Rises" (as one of Bane's thugs), Scott in Toby Keith's film "Broken Bridges," Raz-R in "Road Trip: Beer Pong," Malachai in the television remake of "Children of the Corn" and Pete in "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant."

Daniel Newman also follows me on Twitter, which I think is totally cool, and that's why I started the character study with his character, even though he's still very obscure, I have no doubt he'll play a bigger role in the upcoming season.
