Golden Globe 2019 Predictions
It's that time of year again, the time where the best and brightest in film and television are celebrated and receive the recognition they deserve.  I love this time of year, and it kicks off tonight with the Golden Globe Awards.

Here are my predictions on who will win each category, although I have no clue about the television categories because I don't watch too many shows.  It's the films I most look forward to.

Hopefully Roma gets the win here, as it's easily one of the best films I saw all year.  Granted, I never saw the others, but this one was so amazing it'd be a shame for it to get neglected by voters who don't consider Netflix movies as real movies.




BEST ANIMATED FEATURE
Incredibles 2
Isle of Dogs
Mirai
Ralph Breaks the Internet
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

As much as I would love to see Isle of Dogs win (or even Spider-Verse), never count out Pixar's winning power, and see Incredibles 2 take the win.



BEST SONG
All the Stars (Black Panther)
Girl in the Movies (Dumplin)
Requiem for a Private War (A Private War)
Revelation (Boy Erased)
Shallow (A Star is Born)

The most sure bet the entire night, Lady Gaga will easily get the win here.



BEST SCORE
Marco Beltrami (A Quiet Place)
Alexandre Desplat (Isle of Dogs)
Ludwig Goransson (Black Panther)
Justin Hurwitz (First Man)
Marc Shaiman (Mary Poppins Returns)

What made First Man so incredible is its amazing score, and I see Hurwitz getting recognized for it.



BEST SCREENPLAY
Alfonso Cuaron (Roma)
Debra Davis/Tony McNamara (The Favourite)
Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga, Brian Currie (Green Book)
Barry Jenkins (If Beale Street Could Talk)
Adam McKay (Vice)

Again, if the voters can get over Roma being a Netflix movie, Cuaron easily deserves this recognition.  Otherwise, I think Jenkins will win it.



BEST DIRECTOR
Bradley Cooper (A Star is Born)
Alfonso Cuaron (Roma)
Peter Farrelly (Green Book)
Spike Lee (BlacKkKlansman)
Adam McKay (Vice)

Broken record here, but again if the voters can recognize a Netflix film, then Cuaron will win.  Otherwise, it'll probably go to Cooper.



BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Amy Adams (Vice)
Claire Foy (First Man)
Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk)
Emma Stone (The Favourite)
Rachel Weisz (The Favourite)

Typically if more than one person is nominated, they cancel each other out, so I feel Amy Adams' portrayal of Lynne Cheney will win out tonight.



BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Mahershala Ali (Green Book)
Timothee Chalamet (Beautiful Boy)
Adam Driver (BlacKkKlansman)
Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me)
Sam Rockwell (Vice)

While I personally would love Chalamet to take it, it seems like Mahershala Ali will earn another Golden Globe for his performance in Green Book.



BEST ACTRESS COMEDY/MUSICAL
Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins Returns)
Olivia Colman (The Favourite)
Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade)
Charlize Theron (Tully)
Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians)

I feel this will come down to either Emily Blunt or Olivia Colman, and with having a period piece on her side, I see Colman rightfully earning this award.



BEST ACTOR COMEDY/MUSICAL
Christian Bale (Vice)
Lin-Manuel Miranda (Mary Poppins Returns)
Viggo Mortensen (Green Book)
Robert Redford (The Old Man & the Gun)
John C. Reilly (Stan & Ollie)

Much like "Shallow" earning Best Song, it seems very likely that Christian Bale will receive his just due for his amazing performance in Vice.



BEST FILM COMEDY/MUSICAL
Crazy Rich Asians
The Favourite
Green Book
Mary Poppins Returns
Vice

It'll be a fight between Vice and The Favourite, but I see Adam McKay's satirical look at the life of Dick Cheney taking home the win.



BEST ACTRESS DRAMA
Glenn Close (The Wife)
Lady Gaga (A Star is Born)
Nicole Kidman (Destroyer)
Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me)
Rosamund Pike (A Private War)

This one also seems like a foregone conclusion, with anyone other than Lady Gaga taking home the statue being a huge upset.



BEST ACTOR DRAMA
Bradley Cooper (A Star is Born)
Willem Dafoe (At Eternity's Gate)
Lucas Hedges (Boy Erased)
Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody)
John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman)

While I personally would love Hedges to win, it'll come down to Bradley Cooper and Rami Malek, with Malek's transformation into Freddie Mercury taking home the win.



BEST DRAMA
Black Panther
BlacKkKlansman
Bohemian Rhapsody
If Beale Street Could Talk
A Star is Born

While there could be a case made for any of these films winning, I feel it's A Star is Born's night to shine.



So we'll see if my predictions are correct tonight (surprisingly, I'm usually more wrong than right)!

Major Theatrical Releases May 2016 May is the start of summer, which means warmer weather, no school, more sunshine, and of course, MAJOR BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES! The Living Dead Starring Jessica Jane-Stanford, Paul Danan, Aurie 'Styla' Green, Hakan Hassan Directed by Fredi Nwaka What I appreciate the most about horror cinema is the fact that its the easiest genre for an up-and-coming director to direct, and provide a unique vision that's set apart from different genres - in horror, you can make anything if you set your mind to it.  Horror can also blend different genres within itself, producing horror/drama, horror/action, and even horror/comedy, which is the route taken by first-time director Fredi Nwaka's "The Living Dead" (also known in the U.K. as "Are We Dead Yet?") - it's not just a horror film, but also blends action and comedy and produces a worthwhile whole.
