Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland

Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland
Starring Pamela Springsteen, Tracy Griffith, Mark Oliver, Haynes Brooke
Directed by Michael A. Simpson

The Story:
One year after a massacre at the old campgrounds, it re-opens under new management and a new premise: pairing upper class and lower class teens for a summer of understanding and togetherness.  Unfortunately for them, the killer also returns to slice and dice up her own brand of understanding and togetherness.

The Synopsis:
**SPOILERS FOR THE PREVIOUS TWO MOVIES INCLUDED!**

So here we go again, a cult classic that spawned a sequel that likes to make fun of itself, and then the third film which - as stated in "X-Men: Apocalypse" - is always the worst.  While "Sleepaway Camp III" isn't as bad as other third movies, it's definitely the weakest outing so far.

Basically the premise is the exact same as the second film, except now Angela the killer has to be more crafty, because people know who she is now.  So she disguises herself as a camper and goes on her little killing spree, and even though Pamela Springsteen continues to bring her own charm and humor to Angela's character, even she seems tired of the gig.  Maybe it's because both films were done back-to-back, and she was just tired.  Still, she wasn't as entertaining as the first go-around, save for the final twenty minutes.  Maybe she knew her time was up and she went back to enjoying it again for the end.

The kills are still entertaining - from a woman thrown into a pile of trash, buried to the neck and then facing a lawnmower to a new way to salute the flag - but there's something missing this time around.  It's not as humorous as before, and it just seemed drawn out.  Thankfully, the kills are so numerous there's one kill every four minutes or so, but the characters are so thinly drawn you don't care about any of them, or even remember their names.

The Summary:
While appearing as an add-on to the previous film, "Sleepaway Camp III" isn't as witty, biting, or fun as the previous installment, and easily is the weakest of the three.
