Worst2First: My Top Ten One Hit Wonder Actors

Worst2First:
My Top Ten One Hit Wonder Actors
For every Robert De Niro, for every Leonardo DiCaprio, for every Robin Williams, there's a ton of other actors who wish to hit it big in Hollywood and have a stellar, long career on the big screen - but that's not meant to be.  While some offer an unforgettable one-time performance, others do well with what they were given but were almost completely forgotten into the abyss.

Some of these actors have gone on to find success on television and other mediums, but for the sake of this list, I'm narrowing it down to actors who've only appeared in one (or one role) film.

Here are my personal top ten one hit wonder actors, worst2first...

**THERE WILL BE NO SPOILERS**

#10
Peter Billingsley
"You'll shoot your eye out kid!"  Peter Billingsley is best known for playing young Ralphie in the Christmas classic "A Christmas Story," where all he wants for Christmas is a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle.  The film now plays for twenty-four hours straight from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day on TBS, and it's become a pop culture phenomenon.  After this film, Billingsley didn't capture any greater success, and went on to appear in a few movies and now serves as a director and producer (in fact, he serves as an Executive Producer for "Iron Man").

#9
 Jean Dujardin
French actor Jean Dujardin exploded on the scene in the 2011 film "The Artist," a movie that heralded back to the time of classic Hollywood before talking pictures, a movie shot entirely in black and white and without talking.  It was a critical hit, earning five Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor for Dujardin, but afterward he failed to find success in American cinemas, mostly appearing as supporting roles in films like "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Monuments Men," and "I Feel Pretty."

#8
 Brandon Routh
Before landing the role of Superman in the rebooted franchise (the franchise before Henry Cavill, the one where the franchise was only one movie), Brandon Routh was a relative unknown actor who appeared in a few soap operas.  After playing the Man of Steel, he once again became a no-name actor, appearing in forgettable films like "Dylan Dog: Dead of Night."  Lately he's found a resurgence on television, playing another DC hero - The Atom - in shows like "Arrow," "The Flash," and "Legends of Tomorrow."

#7
 Alex Winter
Playing the role of Bill S. Preston, Esq. in the comedy classic "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure," Alex Winter had a promising career in Hollywood, but could never really find his footing like his partner in crime in the film, Keanu Reeves.  Since appearing in the cult classic, Winter went on to appear in other films, but now works more behind the scenes as a documentary director and advocate for privacy rights.

#6
 Hayden Christensen
Beating out Hollywood big names like Leonardo DiCaprio and Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen landed the coveted role of Anakin Skywalker - the future Darth Vader - in George Lucas's "Star Wars" prequel films.  Prior to this role, he found modest success, earning a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in "Life as a House," but it's this role he's most known for.  After receiving negative reviews for his performance, he never found success on the big screen again, appearing in a few films but never becoming the big star he was supposed to be.

#5
 Taylor Lautner
Playing the ripped werewolf Jacob Black in the tween romance film series "Twilight," Taylor Lautner was the desire of every prepubescent female (and some older ones) for several years.  However, unlike his fellow co-stars (Robert Pattinson went on to appear in critically acclaimed films like "Good Time" while Kristen Stewart earned the Cesar Award for Best Actress - the French equivalent of the Oscars, and the only American actress to do so), Lautner never moved on from his iconic role, and now works with Adam Sandler's company in a slew of Netflix forgettable films.

#4
 Rupert Grint
Playing Harry Potter's bff Ron Weasley in eight "Harry Potter" films, Rupert Grint literally grew up on screen.  Unlike his fellow co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, Grint never found success on the big screen again, and now appears in the Sony Crackle series "Snatch."

#3
 Jim Caviezel
Once you play the Son of God, there's not a whole lot higher you can go.  Starring as Jesus in Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ," Jim Caviezel gave a tremendous performance and really owned the part, but much like other actors who played Jesus on film, found it difficult to play anything else.  He was able to parlay his work to appear in the popular TV series "Person of Interest," where he earned two People's Choice Award nominations for Favorite TV Dramatic Actor.

#2
 Robert Englund
Playing the iconic movie horror villain Freddy Krueger since 1984, Robert Englund has plagued the nightmares of millions of moviegoers.  His role is known worldwide, and no one (sorry Jackie Earle Haley) could ever don the fedora and red-and-green striped sweater like he could.  However, Englund hasn't really found any major success apart from the role, appearing in a few forgettable b-rated horror films like "Zombie Strippers."

#1
 Mark Hamill
Playing the iconic Luke Skywalker in George Lucas's classic "Star Wars" series, Mark Hamill became a household name and Hollywood legend, but couldn't find major success in films other than his typecast role.  Although he found success on television voicing The Joker in several "Batman" animated series and television movies, Hamill didn't really appear in other big-budget movies and will always be remembered for playing Luke Skywalker.
