Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
Starring Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd
Directed by Adam McKay

Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and his now wife Veronica (Christina Applegate) are living in New York City working for a news station when Veronica gets a job opportunity of a lifetime, which unfortunately causes Ron to become jealous and leaves her.

Feeling washed out, Burgundy is at the end of his rope when he's visited by a producer who invites  Burgundy to take part in a new experiment - a 24 hour news channel.  Ron gathers his old news team together and return to New York to take part in the new experiment, all the while coming into contact with hot shot up-and-comers, a "different" type of boss, and Burgundy's own arrogance.

In 2004, the original "Anchorman" brought laughs in droves and created some of today's most quotable quotes ("I love lamp," "60% of the time, it works every time").  Almost ten years later, the sequel finally arrived - after a massive worldwide extensive marketing campaign - and the laughs were still there. I didn't think it was as funny as the original, but I'm sure I'll change my mind after viewing it again.  Steve Carell gets a bigger chunk of the film as the bumbling loveable idiot Brick, even getting an equally offbeat girlfriend (played brilliantly by "Bridesmaids" star Kristen Wiig), but his jokes seemed more forced than the original, and a little more over-the-top, but still hilarious.

Throw in a plethora of surprise guest stars (I won't say who, but near the end of the film - the funniest scenes in the film - you'll be surprised when you see who they were able to find to make some cameos), some totally inappropriate humor, and the "Anchorman" legend continues with loads of laughs.

My Rating: A
