My Most Anticipated Films of Spring 2026
Leading up to what cinemas consider summer (which runs from May to
August as opposed to June to August), theaters are going to be popping
during the two spring months of March and April! From sequels to horror films and some exciting original content, there's something for everyone
to see on the big screen in March and April.
So here are the ten films I'm most excited to see in March and April of 2026...
**THERE WILL BE NO SPOILERS**
**DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE**
#10
Lee Cronin's The Mummy
April 17
Back in 2017, Universal tried to re-vitalize its classic monsters with Tom Cruise's "The Mummy" and the result was nothing short of disastrous. It killed the entire universe with one movie, and the idea of a mummy was put back in its cinematic sarcophagus. Now, "Evil Dead Rise" director Lee Cronin has opened that sarcophagus with his own modern day rendition of "The Mummy," and while it looks somewhat scary, the CGI of the girl is pretty off-putting, not to mention Jack Reynor's performance...but I still have high hopes this will be good. This movie centers around a girl lost for eight years in a sarcophagus who is still alive, and of course nothing good can come of it.
#9
Dolly
March 6
March 6
Everyone loves a good scary doll movie, but what happens when that dolly is a person masked like a doll? "Dolly" centers on a woman abducted by someone wearing a doll mask and wants to raise her as her own child, and is reminiscent of films like "Barbarian." The movie stars Fabianne Therese as the woman kidnapped, and NWA fighter Max the Impaler as the titular Dolly.
#8
They Will Kill You
March 27
Looking
like a mix between "Ready or Not" and "Hotel Artemis," "They Will Kill
You" centers on a woman answering an ad for a housekeeper at a
mysterious New York City high-rise where its tenants are members of a
cult looking to sacrifice her. This looks to be a fun, R-rated gory good
time led by "Deadpool 2" star Zazie Beetz along with "Harry Potter"
alum Tom Felton, Heather Graham, and Patricia Arquette.
#7
undertone
March 13
If "The Ring" was made today, you'd get "undertone." The film follows a podcaster who plays a series of recordings that bring about some demonic force. The film is unique in that there's only two actors seen on screen, and everyone else is heard through recordings or other audio equipment, and looks genuinely unnerving.
#6
The Drama
April 3
A24 + Robert Pattinson + Zendaya = excitement! Not much is known about this film, other than it focuses on a couple about to get married who discovers dark secrets about one another. I'm very intrigued and excited to see these two amazing actors work together for the first time.
#5
Michael
April 24
Known as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson has left an indelible imprint on the music industry for generations to come, so it was only a matter of time before his own biopic hit the big screen. Starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson, this looks to be an intriguing look into his career from the Jackson 5 to his successful solo career, and hopefully won't be like other musical biopics that rely solely on Wikipedia for its information.
#4
The Bride!
March 6
The Creature of Frankenstein has had a resurgence in recent times, and first-time director Maggie Gyllenhaal takes full advantage in her debut feature, "The Bride!" Jessie Buckley stars as the titular Bride who is brought back to life after she's murdered to serve as the bride to Frank, played by Christian Bale, obviously as Frankenstein's Creature. Throwing the motif into a 1930s feel with a Bonnie and Clyde aesthetic, this looks to be exciting, fascinating, and horrifying in equal measure.
#3
Project Hail Mary
March 20
Based on the novel written by the same man who wrote The Martian, "Project Hail Mary" finds Ryan Gosling as a reluctant astronaut sent to investigate why the sun is dying before the Earth is destroyed. Aided only by an alien rock creature he names Rocky, he must find a way to save the planet from annihilation. Much like with Matt Damon's performance in "The Martian" this looks to be a great role for Ryan Gosling to tackle with his effortless charm, charisma and comedy.
#2
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come
March 20
2019's "Ready or Not" was a surprise hit and cemented Samara Weaving as this generation's Scream Queen, but no one thought a sequel could possibly be made. Yet Radio Silence - who directed the first film - returns to direct the sequel, also starring Weaving along with Scream Queen legend Sarah Michelle Gellar and Kathryn Newton. After surviving her own game of "Hide and Seek," Weaving's Grace finds herself stuck in another game with bigger stakes: her younger sister (Newton) is threatened, and she has to protect herself and her sister from a group of families looking to kill her to gain ultimate power. While the premise doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, the trailers promise more dark comedy, blood, gore, and of course the welcome return of Gellar to our big screens.
#1
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
April 1
Hardly anyone thought "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" would be a success, but it went on to earn over a billion dollars worldwide due to the directors taking care of the franchise and treating it with the respect it deserves. Now, bigger and better, "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" takes our Nintendo heroes to space and meets Princess Rosalina while Bowser Jr. looks to free his father. This looks to be as beautifully animated as the first, a movie that kids and adults can enjoy together.
