Stop! That! Train!

Spoof comedies are making a comeback in cinema thanks to the surprise success of 2025's remake of "The Naked Gun" with Liam Neeson playing the son of the man the great Leslie Nielsen played in the 80s. That year ended with the equally hilarious "Fackham Hall" and then this year brought back the mother of all 2000s spoofs, "Scary Movie 6" to rousing success. Now "Stop! That! Train!" continues to chug ahead with the laughs that doesn't tread new territory, but it doesn't need to.

Best friends Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee) work as train stewardesses for a failing train line, but wish to work on the glamorous Glamazonian Express and get their shot when two of their stewardesses don't show up for work, so they disguise themselves and find themselves on board. Unfortunately, they don't know they're heading into a "Stormaganza" that threatens to kill everyone on board, to the chagrin of President Judy Gagwell (RuPaul Charles) who has her own sordid past with trains.

"Stop! That! Train!" is revolutionary in that it's the first all-drag comedy film that features some of "RuPaul's Drag Race's" most iconic contestants and allows them to let loose on their comedy (as well as some well-placed toe-tapping musical numbers) that is perfect for Pride Month. The film doesn't take itself too seriously and offers some hilarious sight gags reminiscent of "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" while infusing their own particular style and flair that makes it a fabulous experience, even if it's not as high brow as one would expect.

There's also a slew of cameo appearances - from Joel McHale, Nicole Richie and Raven-Symone to Lisa Rinna, Charo and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, but the best by far is Sarah Michelle Gellar, who plays a version of herself...except no one knows who she is. This running gag was the funniest of the movie in my opinion, but there were numerous times I was roaring with laughter. In times like this, we need movies like this that doesn't take things so seriously, and allows us to just let loose and have a glamorific time.

The Score: B+
